AUTOBOT BUMBLEBEE

ALLEGIANCE: AUTOBOT
FUNCTION: ESPIONAGE
FIRST APPEARANCE: TRANSFORMERS # 1

"The least likely can be the most dangerous."

Profile: Bumblebee is the Autobots' little brother. He's small, eager and at times can be a bit of a smart-mouth. Yet for all his wisecracks, he obviously idolizes the bigger robots, especially Optimus and Prowl. He is useful as a messenger and a spy; he can go where other vehicles would not dare because he does not look threatening. And his relatively small size occasionally enables him to use routes not available to the others. More than anything, Bumblebee wants to be accepted, and this sometimes causes him to take chances he shouldn't.

Abilities: As he can get up to 1.8 times more use out of a unit of fuel than the next most efficient Autobot, Bumblebee is often called upon at times of low energy resources. His visual acuity rates tops of all Autobots: he can spot a 10" × 10" object at a distance of 48 miles on a clear day. His adaptability to water environments makes him particularly important in undersea reconnaissance and salvage operations.

Weaknesses: Bumblebee is physically the weakest of the Autobots, and the most easily damaged. His stealth more than compensates for this liability.

Tech-Spec

Small, eager, and brave, Bumblebee acts as a messenger and spy. Due to his small size, he dares to go where others can't and won't. He idolizes the bigger Autobots, especially Optimus Prime and Prowl, and strives to be accepted. He is the most energy efficient and has the best vision of all the Autobots. He can go underwater for reconnaissance and salvage missions. Although physically the weakest Autobot, his stealth more than compensates for this inadequacy.

** I consider Bumblebee (the red one)to be the first Transformer I ever got along with Brawn. I remember purchasing them at a local drugstore near where I lived as a kid (Eckard Drugs) with my allowance. They were really cool, and got a lot of playtime at first with my Gobots. I was particularly fond of Bumblebee though, because the beetles were pretty popular then and I was always playing the games with family of spotting them while driving.

Bumblebee was also a favorite because when I really did get into Transformers, he was prominent in both the Marvel comics stories (which I got the most time with), as well as being in the cartoon a lot. While I liked the red color best, as a kid I often regretted not having the yellow one to more closely match the other media. 27 or so years later (April 2011) I finally got both!!

Anyway, I got the red Bumblebee as you can see and played with it extensively. While nothing is broken, he does have pretty loose joints, and sticker wear. The Autobot label is peeling. Still a great guy though.**

-January 2011-  While doing some code cleanup, I took another look at this page and was really bothered that the artwork wasn't red to match the toy.  I knew I had to fix this.  After numerous searches with no luck, I knew the only way this was going to happen was if I modified it myself.  The problem is, I have no (0) photoshop skills.  The one thing I do know to do, was just because someone showed me a while back.  Anyway, I looked for web tutorials, and played with them mostly unsuccessfully for a while.  Finally, with trial and error, I was able to do a makeshift change, and it is what is presented up top.  Maybe I will try the techspec at some point, but right now, I am glad to just be done with the main image.  It isn't the greatest, but its awesome for me.  If anyone can do better, please help!!  Thanks**
