First thing to say, is I am a huge Anime/RPG/Japanese culture fan. To get a better picture of this, see the links below showing my collections for Anime and Video Games.

With that said, it was a sad day for me when I found out that NewType ended with the February 2008 issue. I also felt a pretty significant sense of guilt, because I have to admit that while I liked the book a lot, I passed on it quite a bit. Like I said, it wasn't because I didn't like it, but it was usually a money issue. Either I just couldn't afford it, or when I could I would usually pass on it thinking it was better to actually spend the money on actual anime, etc. Maybe now since I make a bit more it doesn't seem so bad, but at times past $10-12 just seemed usually to be too much.  While I doubt I personally could have made that much if any difference, I really wish I would have bought it more, or subscribed. I guess the good news for me is I generally don't find anime to ever get old, and in fact, I usually do most of my anime purchasing from either Rightstufs bargain bin, Amazon, eBay, and Half Price Books. My point is, I usually don't need the latest news about the newest titles coming out, so I am collecting the back issues when I get a chance now, and reading them. Its not so bad that way. Plus, I am usually getting it at about half the cover price now.  I just wish I could magically make the book not end. If it was to magically come back, I would make sure to subscribe as long as it went back to the way it was.  Hopefully ADV will continue to recover from its problems, and maybe bring the book back one day.  I would really be upset if ADV does go further under.  Most of the anime I do get is from them it seems.

*OK, ADV did officially die in 2009.  I hear it was just broken up into a lot of smaller companies, or parts were sold off.  Either way, I am very disappointed.  I really wish they would have left well enough alone...
